With an ambition to encourage creative thinking and innovation at grass roots level, the organisation recognised that the directive approach taken by many of its managers was resulting in culture that was stifling creativity and holding back success.
After working with the organisation to research an appropriate intervention that would align both management capability and culture with strategy, Sue worked alongside the HR department to develop and deliver the training package ‘coaching as a management style’ for all managers showing them the why, what and how of coaching.
Sue reinforced their learning by organising and helping provide 1:1 coaching sessions for all senior managers. This raised their self-awareness and supported them to explore their impact.
The effect snowballed with people setting up their own coaching training and networks within the organisation. People began to challenge unhelpful behaviours. Our evaluation showed over 75% of leaders demonstrating a more empowering/coaching approach towards employees
